Located in close proximity to an award-winning beach and a campsite, the restaurant offers a unique combination of a cozy atmosphere, convenient location, and solid pub fare. The restaurant consists of two areas: a traditional pub and a separate dining area. Both provide a relaxed, typically Scottish ambiance characterized by rustic decor and friendly service. The views from the window tables are particularly noteworthy—the sight of the sea and cliffs is spectacular, making dining here a special experience. For many visitors, the "Sango Sands Oasis" is not just a place for a meal, but also a welcome break after a day filled with outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, or exploring the nearby Smoo Cave.

The menu focuses on classic British and Scottish comfort food served in generous portions. The Fish & Chips are especially popular, often hailed by guests as the best in all of Scotland—crispy, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The homemade Steak Pie is frequently highlighted as well, with its hearty filling and buttery crust representing true comfort food. For those with a sweet tooth, the Apple Pie for dessert offers a delightful finish, known for its simple yet delicious preparation. The kitchen emphasizes speed, which is particularly useful when the restaurant is busy or when guests from the adjacent campsite come to pick up a meal.

Outdoor activities near Durness

Opinions about the "Sango Sands Oasis" vary, however. While many appreciate the friendliness of the staff, reasonable pricing, and solid quality of the food, there are also critical voices. Some guests find the decor outdated and the smell in the pub unpleasant, which can mar the overall experience. The quality of some dishes, such as a beef burger with bland chips, has also been questioned. Nevertheless, for most, the positive impression prevails, especially due to the convenient location and warm hospitality.

A special highlight is the musical backdrop—Elvis songs playing in the background add a nostalgic touch that many visitors find charming. Additionally, free Wi-Fi is available, which is a welcome bonus in this remote area. The views from the site are absolutely brilliant unfortunately we didn't stay as the wind was blowing a hooley. Roll forward a few years 9th of November 2024 the weather has been great, no wind at all and the views we'll judge for yourself.

Came here as one of the sites to come to on the NC 500 Overall it has everything you need service wise but gets very busy we went in October. No food available in the bar except soup, camp shop small and expensive there is a spar up the road which you don’t get told about. The beach is lovely but would go elsewhere next time.

Great spot, beautiful view. Very friendly staff, camping with good conditions. Walking distance from the Spar. The only complain is that the water in the showers was way to hot. We have a almost 2 years toddler and the family showers were out of service, in the normal showers was so hot that is was a struggle to shower the little one

Travelled around Scotland many times and this was by far the most picturesque place. The site facilities and proximity to attractions were also excellent. Despite the distance from home, we will definitely be back many more times! 🚐💘

Absolutely great place. Roomy, hot showers, breakfast available, views are incredible. Owners are really helpful and friendly. I am NOT normally a camper, but I would definitely happily come back here any time. Loved it. Oh and it was a great place for the northern lights. Breathtaking dark skies.

You can't fault the views, stunning at all times of the day. The beach is easy to wander down to and that's why we all go there. There is also a bar on site with a good selection of beers. You need to have good, quiet neighbours though as the pitches are really close together. Those of us with pop tops can hear our neighbours nattering away. Headroom or peace and quiet? Hmmmm. Facilities are OK, toilets and shower blocks at both ends of the site.

This site came recommended via the many NC chats! We had a warm greeting at camping reception and the bar. It has great facilities (laundry, wash up, camp kitchen, toilets, showers, bar, shop close by). The showers were clean unisex cubicles (inconsistent temperatures), plug sockets for hair drying! The views were stunning. The bar was friendly, but the food options were disappointing. The dog was welcome everywhere, the bar included.

This is an excellent location to stop and pitch-up. The sea views are outstanding as are the beaches, sandy and great to walk bear footed on. The site has good unisex shower facilities for male, female and also has family facilities. There's a cafe on site and a breakfast bar offering morning food stuff. We would recommend getting there early enough to secure a pitch.

We had two nights here last week. The views of the beach are excellent, although being on top of the cliff in 30mph was interesting. Top site, bar very close and good facilities. Only gripe would be the showers only luke warm. But we would definitely stay here again

Perfect campsite with ample facilities, even has a campers kitchen which saved us as the weather was rubbish and it meant we could cook undercover. Pub on site did great food and the owner squeezed us on even though it said they were full on the website. We were super tired and she made our evening by letting us stay. Would highly recommend. It was also right near a spar to stock up for the next leg of the journey
